Individual Income Taxes

Our firm uses one of the best tax softwares in the U.S. This gives us the ability to file every state including foreign jurisdictions.

Personal Tax Packet - Annually, our firm mails our clients a tax packet that includes a questionnaire on potential items that may need to be accounted for on their tax return. This packet includes the prior year's reported amounts and information for the clients convenience. All new clients receive a blank packet with pre-printed fill-in areas.

Below is a list of items that may be missed as deductions on personal returns by taxpayers:

  • Mileage for charitable purposes, including churches

  • Energy efficient credits on purchases of insulation, heat pumps, water heaters, solar, etc.

  • Job-hunting costs

  • Non-cash donations to non-profits, including churches (these include clothing, canned goods, or supplies)

  • Gambling Losses (offset up to reported gambling winnings)

  • Additional business mileage rate deduction claimed as being self-employed. These include miles to pickup supplies or business mail.

Free Personal Credit Monitoring

The Federal government offers a free credit report to the public annually. Identity theft has increased over the years. Our firm highly advises you to monitor your credit history as least annually. The free service does not include a free credit score, but it can be purchased for a small fee. A new study found that approximately 5% of individuals have errors on their credit reports!!

Remember, the IRS and banks will never contact you through an email or via phone and ask for sensitive information. Moreover, never open an email from ANY entity that wants personal information, mentions a risk with your account, or discloses rewards. Most entities will back or repeat the same information on any email sent when logged-in via online or called from a phone.

You can print your credit report directly from the Federal site. If you prefer mailing the form (recommended), click here.

    PLEASE NOTE:

  • The average printout is around 20 pages

  • The report lists current and past historical credit, even if the account was closed.

  • If you mail the form it will take around three weeks to receive

  • Credit reports include contact information on each account. This is helpful if there is an issue.

  • "Equixfax" is my favorite of the three available reports
